Kidepo offers breathtaking open savannah which is surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape no where to be seen in Africa. The park is home to elephant, zebra, giraffe, huge herds of buffalo, warthog, duiker, hartebeest, lion, leopard, cheetah and hundreds of bird species. A game drive around Narus valley offers visitors chance to see the highest concentration of buffalo and elephants. Other animals that may be seen roaming around include the Jackal, Zebra, Roan Antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Eland, Oribi, Cheetah, Leopard, Klipspringer, and lions etc.
The park boosts of being the highest concentration of birds endemic to Uganda like Ostrich, Kori bustard, vultures, pygmy falcon, hornbills, eagles etc.
DAY ONE: TRANSFER TO KIDEPO NATIONAL PARK
Fly to Apoka Airstrip in Kidepo. You will depart from Entebbe Airport at 4.00 pm and it takes two hours to get to the park. You will fly over River Nile, Lake Kyoga, Lake Bisina, and Mt. Elgon, hilltops, small towns and villages. You will then be transferred to Apoka Lodge. Incase you use ground transportation, you will depart from Kampala pass via Mbale town and have a stop for lunch then proceed to the east of Lake Kyoga to reach northern Uganda. However roads are sometimes difficult and 4WD vehicles are usually essential. You will get to the park and relaxed around as you see animals close to the Camp. Dinner and overnight at Adele Safari Lodge / Apoka Safari Lodge
DAY TWO: WILDIFE IN KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
After a cup of coffee, you will take a game drive to Narus valley; this spot attracts the highest concentration of animals and birds due to the presence of water. Return to the camp for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, take an excursion or a stay among the Karamojong and study their lifestyle. Here the visitors get a unique, unforgettable experience and understanding of the Nomads lifestyle around Karenga and Kipedo. The elders will show visitors the Kraals, grinding stone, local defence fence and cultural dances known as ‘Edonga’. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY THREE: RETURN TRIP TO KAMPALA
The day begins with breakfast. Then drive to Kanangorok hot springs and Ostrich drive. Other animals like baboons may be seen roaming along the floor of Kidepo River and palm trees. You will be able to take some photographs and return to the camp for your lunch ready to board your chartered flight Aircraft to Entebbe. Or you will be transferred to the airstrip to catch your flight back home.
